COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Clint Irwin stopped a first-half penalty kick and Atiba Harris' goal in the fifth minute held up as the Colorado Rapids won their first game of the season, 1-0 over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.
Edson Buddle set up the score by sneaking a pass between defenders in the penalty box and straight to a wide -open Harris, who booted it in with his left foot.
A few minutes later, Irwin later stopped a penalty kick by Alvaro Saborio to preserve the lead for the Rapids (1-3-2). Irwin has taken over in net for Matt Pickens, who's sidelined with a broken arm.
Real Salt Lake (2-3-1) lost for the second time in three contests.
The two teams finished in a 1-1 draw on March 16 in Utah.
