Your Money: Gaming town raise betting limits, Molson Coors profits, resorts to open Friday

KUSA - Colorado voters have approved a measure allowing the state's three gaming towns to raise betting limits and send much of the proceeds to community colleges.

Amendment 50 created an unusual alliance between casinos and educators.

The measure allows Black Hawk, Cripple Creek and Central City to vote on whether to increase single-bet limits to as high as $100.

It would also allow casinos to expand operations to 24 hours and add roulette and craps.

Community colleges would receive 78 percent of new revenues to spend on financial aid and classroom instruction.

Golden-based brewer Molson Coors says its third-quarter profits rose 28 percent, which is slightly less than what analysts expected.

It was the company's first full quarter of operating its joint venture with SAB Miller's U.S. unit called "Miller Coors."

New snowfall in Colorado's high country will help conditions at three big Summit county ski areas that all plan to open on Friday.

Snowmaking crews at Copper Mountain, Keystone, and Breckenridge are working around the clock to lay down a base and get at least one run open at each resort.
