KYLE'S KRITTERS: Echo the Auger Buzzard

DENVER - This week's Kyle's Kritters was live at the studios of 9News on Saturday morning. Keepers from the Denver Zoo's Education Department brought in "Echo," a red-tailed Auger Buzzard for us to see.

The zoo's Dawn Monachino says "Echo" is an African Hawk.
He's a meat eater. His favorite foods: rodents, snakes and an occasional insect.

These beautiful birds do not have "shades" for their eyes. Instead a bone protrudes over their eyes to protect them from the hot African sun.

Monachino also says since this week is Spring Break, The Denver Zoo has all sorts of special activities going on for kids, so this is the perfect week for families to make the trip.
