Home improvement's not just for men
|
DENVER - Women who have felt a little intimidated by taking on home improvement projects in the past are now getting a little nudge by a toolmaker geared toward the fairer sex. ![]() "It's a huge growing trend, more and more women participating in home improvement projects, I mean, whether it's out of necessity or whether it's just for the fun of it," Janet Rickstrew of Tomboy Tools said. "But, what we hear so much when people see our company and see the tools for the first time is, 'It's about time.'" Tomboy Tools sells its wares at "tool parties" much like Tupperware parties. Not only are the tools well-made and comfortable to grip, but they come in pink because the company supports the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Rickstrew says women don't need to feel intimidated by projects, they should just start with the basics. "Start small, do a few little projects and then just go from there. So there's definitely a progression that takes place," Rickstrew said. You can check out Tomboy Tools at the Denver Home Show Sunday through 5 p.m.
