The race is open to amateurs and pros and will be a 1 mile loop close to the Town Center off Highlands Ranch Parkway. The race starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 6pm. Orgainzers expect 350-500 riders.

The event is very spectator friendly with numerous places to watch the racers and a cycling expo for perusing when not watching the racers.

Proceeds from the criterium will benefit The Chidren's Hospital.

For more information about the event, sponsorship or participation, contact Michael Bright at 303-804-9800 or click here.

The Highlands Ranch criterium is being put on with the help of Rocky Mountain Spine and Sport Cycling Team. Founded in 2004, the Rocky Mountain Spine & Sport Cycling Team has emerged as one of the top bicycle racing teams in Colorado, according to the team's General Manager, Andrew Kurzon.

Competing in local and regional road racing events, RMSS has over fifty wins and has also seen three of its riders graduate to the International Cycling Center in Belgium. In 2008 the team won the Colorado "Best All Around Team" competition, in addition to winning the "Best All Around Rider" competition (won by John Carnie).

The team's goal is to bring attention to the sport of bicycle racing in Colorado and provide an environment that fosters easy access into what can be an intimidating sport. The Team consists of 40 racers: 7 elite men on a category 2 team, 15 men on a
category 3 team, and 15 men on a category 4 team.

They also have a growing women's team who have been representing not only in local bicycles races but also on the regional triathlon circuit. RMSS competes in over 100 different events every year, mainly in Colorado but also in Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Oregon and California.
