Walk, run and picnic for pets this fall

KUSA - September and October are busy fund raising months for animal shelters and rescue groups in Colorado. ![]() The pubic is invited and welcome to attend any and all of these events: Saturday, Sept. 12 is "Cause for Paws" a 4K Doggie Dash and 3K Walk-A-Thon benefiting the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. It's their 20th anniversary event. Sept. 12 is also the Furry Friends Food Drive at South High School. Pet food can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and noon. Food Bank of the Rockies will distribute the food to people who can't afford pet food. On Saturday, Sept. 19, the "Wag n Tail" is a 1.6-mile hike- fund raiser for the Dumb Friends League at Glendale Farm Open Space to benefit their Buddy Center in Castle Rock. This fundraiser helps care for more than 5,000 homeless pets every year at the Buddy Center and provide valuable services to our community. Sign up begins at 7 a.m. and the hike starts at 8 a.m. Dachtober Fest is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 at deKoevend Park, Shelter C, Centennial Colorado from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Events include: Races, Games, Contests, with German Music and Food.All Proceeds go to the Denver Dumb Friends League. On Sunday, Sept. 27, Pugs In The Park, will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. in City Park. There will be Pug games, a costume contest, lots of stuff to buy, and a silent auction. We should also be selling our 2010 Pug Rescue Calendar. All of the proceeds go to helping our rescue Pugs through the year. Oct. 4 is Life Life Puppy Rescue's is holding it's 2st ever Fido's 5K fun run october 4th at Sloan's lake. Walk/race begins at 9:30. For further details please contact the director at (303)659-0472.
