KUSA - Today is National Weatherperson's Day, commemorating the birth of one of America's first weather observers. On 9NEWS 6 a.m. we threw a little celebration.
John Jeffries was born February 5th, 1744. He began taking daily weather observations in Boston in 1774 and he took the first balloon observation in 1784.
The National Weather Service says that besides noting Jeffries' birthday, this day "recognizes the men and women who collectively provide Americans with the best weather, water, and climate forecasts and warning services of any nation."
Our morning team arranged ice cream treats for Becky and Amelia. Don't worry Kathy, Marty and Belen. We made sure to save some Rocky Road for you too.
