Local students from the University of Colorado are designing a fuel-efficient vehicle as part of Shell's Eco-Marathon competition.
The team is trying to beat last year's winning vehicle which went 2,188 miles per gallon.
Teams across the country are competing.
Shell Eco-marathon is a global program that challenges high school and college student teams to design, build and test the most energy-efficient vehicles.
The competition will take place April 5-7, 2013 on the streets of downtown Houston, Texas.
