For the first time in 30 years, Vail Resorts is not able to open part of their mountain at this point in the season. That has contributed to a 15 percent drop in the number of skiers hitting their slopes.
However, the resort says they have opened more than 100 trails at Vail and Beaver Creek, and all intermediate trails are open at Breckenridge.
Monarch Mountain is also seeing a decrease in sales to the tune of about $300,000, but they say 70 percent of their mountain is open.
Echo Mountain, which is just 35 miles outside of Denver, is reporting record-setting profits. Scott Gales, with Echo Mountain says lift ticket sales are up 81 percent and enrollment in the ski and ride school is up 71 percent.
All ski areas and resorts are hoping this weekend's snow system will bring enough inches to make the difference.
