Every year, thousands of children and adults with disabilities take to the ski slopes, mountain trails and golf courses to learn more about sports - and themselves. With specially trained staff and its own adaptive equipment lab, the NSCD teaches a variety of winter and summer sports and activities to individuals with almost any physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral diagnosis. Over 20,000 lessons have been taught over the last year.

There are many ways to help this incredible program. At the end of February, the 34th Annual Wells Fargo Cup will take place at the base of Winter Park. The 3-days of festivities include four ski races, an après ski bash, live entertainment, ice carving demos and a huge public silent auction. The four races include a corporate cup, kids snowplow sprint, celebrity smack down and world disabled invitational.

Susie Wargin participates every year in the celebrity smack down and corporate challenge. She was joined by Artie Guerrero, a disabled athlete himself, from the NSCD for the latest 6:20 Sidebar. Artie talked more in depth about the races and the weekend. To see the interview, visit the video player to the right of this article.

There are still opportunities to get a team started or simply donate to the NSCD. For details, visit www.skifornscd.com

If you happen to be in Winter Park Feb 27th, 28th or March 1st be sure to stop by the big white tent to check out the silent auction items.
