Girl beats boy in mini SkirtChaser race

KUSA - When Nicole DeBoom started SkirtSports in her basement five years ago, she had many visions. First and foremost, she wanted women to see how fun it was to wear a skirt while working out.

She also wanted to find a way to include men in an edgy and fun event.

Hence, the SkirtChaser series. The 2nd annual SkirtChaser in Cherry Creek is this Saturday, Aug. 29. The race benefits HERA, a women's organization dedicated to fighting ovarian cancer.

For the latest 6:20 Sidebar, Nicole and Susie Wargin staged a mini SkirtChaser race outside of the 9News studios, pitting up a handful of women against two guys. The gals started the .4 mile course first, then 30 seconds later the guys took off. To see who won, visit the video link to the right of this article.

The SkirtChaser Race Series is an experience unlike any other race (plus there's a cool block party afterwards!). The running race format is unlike any other, giving the women a 3 minute head-start on the men and $500 is awarded to the overall winner, male or female. Last year the Denver race was won by a woman. In fact, in 10 SkirtChasers over the last two years, a woman has won 7 times!

The Denver SkirtChaser will take place in Cherry Creek North and the race gun sounds at 5pm. The block party afterwards includes happy hour drinks and food along with a fashion show. Entry fees include race apparel for both the men and women.

Come for the crazy awards, the fashion show, the free beer and music, or the chance to leave your kids at home with the babysitter on a Saturday night!
