With the win, Denver (7-3-1, 5-1-1, WCHA) moves into a second-place tie with the Fighting Sioux (7-3-1, 5-3-1), two points behind Colorado College.

Cheverie was questionable after missing last week's series against Alaska-Anchorage with a leg injury. But he made Drew Shore's power-play goal at 10:07 of the second period stand up for his fourth shutout of the season.

Cheverie made a game-high 16 saves in the third period.
North Dakota's Brad Eidsness had 33 saves, including 14 in the first period.

North Dakota was 0-for-6 on the power play, while Denver went 1-for-7.
