KUSA - Earlier this year I introduced you to Rita Price from Aurora. She was 82 then. Now she's 83 and still taking names on the tennis court.

Because February was a while ago, let me refresh your memory. The grandmother has seven gold balls. As for rankings, she was No. 1 in the world in 2007 in 80's singles, this year is No. 2 in the United States in singles and doubles, and No. 3 in the world in singles.

But that ranking could change very soon for the woman who has a "killer" drop shot and lob.

Price went to Australia two weeks ago and won the World Championship tournament in 80's singles. She e-mailed me and said it was a huge upset. She beat the No. 1 seed from Spain, then took out a British lady (who everyone said would win it all) in two sets for the title.

Price also won silver in doubles with a pick up partner she did not meet until she went to Perth, Australia!

Price's rankings should change very soon. She keeps checking the Web site, but for now the October results are still posted.

Congratulations Rita Price!!

Price received the Perseverance Award from the Sports Women of Colorado this year. New nominations are being taken if you know of a special athlete or coach who has contributed greatly to women's athletics in Colorado. For more information visit www.sportswomenofcolorado.org
