BROOMFIELD- Legacy High School celebrated five of their most impressive female student-athletes Wednesday night at their national letter of intent signing ceremony.
Among the girls honored was Rainey Gaffin, arguably one of the best softball players in the state. Rainey signed her letter of intent to the University of Tennessee.
"It is awesome," Rainey said. "On the ride here I was like, 'This is it. This is signing away my next four years. It's done.'"
As she ends her high school career and looks forward to her time as a Tennessee Volunteer, Rainey admits to being a little intimidated.
"I'm so nervous. It hasn't hit me yet but I'm pretty sure when I leave for school I'm going to be like, 'Oh my gosh, this is really happening, oh my gosh.'"
Among the other athletes to sign were:
Jessica Ball- University of Northern Colorado (Softball)
Kelsey Dempsey- Stevens Institute of Technology (Softball)
Kailey Edwards- University of Denver (Basketball)
Natasha Fomina- Texas State University (Volleyball)
