Franklin will compete in the semifinals tonight.
Dana Vollmer finished first with a time of 54.35 seconds and Allison Schmitt who won the 200 freestyle finals last night finished second today in a time of 54.49 seconds.
Tha final of the 100 freestyle are on Saturday.
