NEW YORK - Volkswagon has created quite a buzz for their new Super Bowl ad - but none of it is about their cars. It features a white Midwesterner with a fake Jamaican accent.
Some people are now calling it racist.
New York Times op-ed columnist Charles Blow told CNN "it's like blackface, but with voices."
VW's chief marketing officer says despite the criticism, there are no plans to pull the ad.
Jamaica's minister of tourism and entertainment calls the ad a "compliment," and is saying he's even negotiating with VW for possible co-branding.
The actor at the center of all of this says people are entitled to their opinions, but adds that his brother-in-law - who's from Kingston, Jamaica - loves it.
