A unified basketball game, like the one that took place between Grandview and Cherry Creek Wednesday night, might just be the greatest idea ever.
Teams of players with and without physical and intellectual disabilities complete with one another. Everyone on the court and in the stands smiles the entire time, regardless of the score.
Unified basketball started with just a few local programs a couple of years ago through a collaboration with Special Olympics. Now, dozens of Colorado high schools are adding Unified basketball. It is a partnership between special and general education students, which can transform the culture of a school.
