New Haven, CT (Sports Network) - Greg Mangano posted his 10th double-double
and led Yale to a 60-53 triumph over Penn in an Ivy League showdown at John J.
Lee Amphitheater.
Mangano scored 23 and brought down 10 rebounds and Michael grace and Austin
Morgan each chipped in 11 for Yale (14-5, 4-1 Ivy League) which has won five
of its last six.
Zack Rosen led Penn (11-10, 3-1) with 16 points and Rob Belcore scored 11
points and pulled in nine rebounds. The Quakers had a four game winning streak
snapped.
The game was deadlocked at 29-29 going into the half as Penn took advantage of
nine first-half turnovers by Yale to overcome a 36.7 shooting percentage. Yale
shot 45.5 percent from the floor in the opening period.
In the second half Penn could not make up for its poor shooting as it shot
39.3 percent from the field and allowed Yale to net 45.8 percent of its
field goal attempts including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Yale won on the boards outrebounding Penn 39-30. Penn lost despite outscoring
Yale 17-6 on points off turnovers.
