Wilmington, NC (Sports Network) - Cedrick Williams recorded a double-double
with 10 points and 15 rebounds as the UNC Wilmington Seahawks defeated the
Wofford Terriers, 49-37, in the a game that was part of the Nations of Coaches
Classic at Trask Coliseum.
Keith Rendleman scored a team-high 16 points for UNCW (2-3), which snapped a
three-game losing streak with the win. Freddie Jackson provided a spark off the
bench with eight points and six rebounds.
Spencer Collins paced the Terriers (2-5) with 13 points while Lee Skinner
pulled down nine rebounds.
Both teams struggled on the offensive end in the opening 20 minutes. Wofford
shot just 36.4 percent from the field and missed all three of its attempts at
the charity stripe. Despite making only 40 percent of their field goals and
just 5-of-10 at the free throw line, the Seahawks were in front for most of the
first half and took a 25-19 advantage into the intermission.
Although UNCW made just 8-of-23 attempts from the field after the break, it
managed to coach to the double-digit victory by holding the Terriers to 24.1
percent shooting from the floor.
The Seahawks held a 44-30 advantage in the rebounding battle and scored six
second chance points.
