Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - C.J. Wilcox led the way with 22 points as the
Washington Huskies downed the Northern Illinois Huskies, 67-57, in a non-
conference duel at Alaska Airlines Arena.
For Washington (8-4), Aziz N'Diaye posted a double-double with 13 points and
12 rebounds, while Abdul Gaddy added 12 points.
Abdel Nader led NIU (2-9) with 18 points, while Kevin Gray chipped in with 10
points.
Washington opened the contest shooting just 32.3 percent from the field, but
they were able to connect on 5-of-12 from beyond the three-point arc and also
outscore NIU 11-2 from the free-throw to take a 36-25 lead into intermission.
NIU made 44 percent of their field goal tries in the first half, but only shot
1-of-3 from three-point range.
In the second half, Washington continued to struggle from the field, shooting
only 30.8 percent from the field. They again had the advantage on the charity
stripe, with an 11-6 scoring advantage from the free-throw line in the second
half. NIU managed just 35.5 percent from the field and could not make up
their first half deficit as Washington was able to snag the victory.
Washington dominated on the boards, outrebounding NIU 42-30. The NIU bench
outscored their Washington counterparts, 26-7.
