Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Ryan Sypkens led four teammates in double-figures
with a game-high 28 points as the UC Davis Aggies defeated the Nicholls State
Colonels, 82-71, at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum as part of the World Vision
Basketball Challenge.
Sypkens was 9-of-16 from the floor in the Aggies' (4-7) victory, including 6-
of-11 from 3-point range. Ryan Howley recorded a double-double off the bench,
with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Corey Hawkins added 19 points and six rebounds
while Josh Ritchart contributed 10 points.
For the Colonels (1-8), T.J. Carpenter scored a team-high 21 points. Dantrell
Thomas contributed 10 points while Amin Torres added 14 points off the bench
in the setback.
Nicholls State made 7-of-18 shots from behind the arc in the first half while
limiting the Aggies to a mere 2-of-11 from long range, as the Colonels took a
37-30 lead at the break.
UC Davis caught fire in the second half, making 8-of-12 3-point attempts and
57.7 percent of its shots overall to take control of the game.
The Aggies shot 16-of-22 from the foul line, while the Colonels were just 8-
of-12 from the stripe.
