Albany, NY (Sports Network) - O.D. Anosike tallied 20 points and seven
rebounds as the Siena Saints defeated the Saint Peter's Peacocks, 66-53, in
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Times Union Center.
Anosike was busy from the foul line, draining 14-of-17, while Rakeem Brookins
added 18 points for Siena (4-13, 2-4 MAAC). Evan Hymes added 12 points for the
Saints, who have won two in a row after losing their previous 11.
For Saint Peter's (6-10, 1-5), Desi Washington scored 16 points, while Markese
Tucker and Yvon Raymond netted 10 apiece. The Peacocks are losers of four in a
row.
Siena shot just 31.8 percent from the floor in the first half, but it went 13-
of-16 from the free-throw line as it opened up a 29-20 lead at the half. Saint
Peter's shot 38.1 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and went
without a free throw attempt.
The Peacocks battled back to take a 36-35 lead with 12:27 left to play, but
the Saints would pull away from there as they shot 55.6 percent from the field
after the break.
Siena finished by making 27-of-36 from the foul line, while Saint Peter's shot
just 5-of-12 from the charity stripe.
