College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Alex Len tallied a double-double with 16
points and 13 rebounds as the Maryland Terrapins held off the Boston College
Eagles, 64-59, in an Atlantic Coast Conference bout the Comcast Center.
Jake Layman scored 15 points for Maryland (15-4, 3-3 ACC), while Nick Faust
chipped in 11 points and seven boards. Dez Wells dished out eight assists for
the Terps, who had lost three of their previous four matchups.
For Boston College (9-9, 1-4), Ryan Anderson scored a game-high 19 points
while also contributing seven rebounds and three steals. Olivier Hanlan
recorded 18 points, seven boards, and five assists for the Eagles, who lost
their third straight game.
Neither team shot greater than 37 percent from the field in the first half, as
the teams went into intermission tied, 29-29.
The teams continued to battle back and forth early in the second half until
Maryland used a 12-1 run to take a 52-44 lead with just over eight minutes to
play. A Patrick Heckmann 3-pointer with less than 10 second left cut Boston
College's deficit to just three, but Faust closed the game out with a 2-of-2
trip to the foul line.
Maryland conquered the rebounding battle, 41-34.
