Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Damion Lee knocked down 4-of-9 3-pointers
en route to a game-high 20 points, and the Drexel Dragons took down the
Georgia State Panthers, 68-57, in Colonial Athletic Association play at the
Daskalakis Center.
Frantz Massenat tallied 15 points and eight assists for the Dragons (8-11, 4-3
CAA), winners of three straight. Derrick Thomas chipped in with 14 points off
the bench.
Manny Atkins led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers
(10-12, 5-4), who saw their four-game winning streak come to a halt. Devonta
White added 14 points and Rashaad Richardson finished with 12 in the loss.
The Panthers could not buy a bucket in the first half, as they were held to
only four field goals and shot a dismal 17.4 percent from the floor. Still,
GSU led until the 6:00 mark of the period when Drexel's Aquil Younger came up
with a steal and a layup to put the Dragons ahead, 17-16. Drexel went into the
half leading, 27-22.
The Dragons padded their lead in the second stanza behind 5-of-13 shooting
from the perimeter and a perfect 14-of-14 effort at the free-throw line.
Drexel enjoyed a 33-26 rebounding advantage for the game and had 16 assists on
20 field goals to claim only its second home victory in seven tries this
season.
