Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Isaiah Sykes finished with 22 points, seven
rebounds and four assists to lead the UCF Knights to an 83-75 win over the
Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a Conference USA matchup at UCF Arena.
Tristan Spurlock added 19 points on 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc for UCF
8-5 C-USA) while Keith Clanton had 15 points and four steals. Matt Williams
chipped in 10 points off the bench.
Pat Swilling, Jr. led the way for Tulsa (14-13, 6-7) with 19 points after
hitting 5-of-9 attempts from long range. Shaquille Harrison had 14 points before
fouling out and James Woodard netted 10 points.
Tulsa shot 46.4 percent from the floor in the first half and outrebounded UCF,
15-11. The Golden Hurricane bench provided a spark late in the period with 14
points on 6-of-9 shooting. Tulsa led 36-35 at halftime.
The home team responded from the halftime deficit and led 60-47 midway through
the second half after a 14-4 run that included two Spurlock triples. Tulsa
battled back to within four on D'Andre Wright free throws late but that is as
close as it would get.
Despite the loss, Tulsa's reserves outscored their counterparts, 33-18.
