Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Scootie Randall dropped in 18 points as the
Temple Owls eased by the Charlotte 49ers, 71-51, in an Atlantic 10 bout at
Halton Arena.
Atlantic 10 leading scorer Khalif Wyatt added 12 points and seven assists and
Jake O'Brien provided 10 points off the bench for Temple (19-8, 8-5 A-10)
which has won five of its last six games.
Pierria Henry and Mike Throne each scored 10 points for Charlotte (18-8, 6-6)
which has lost four of its last five.
Temple ended the first half on a 22-10 run to take a commanding 39-24 lead
into the break. The Owls shot 48.4 percent in the period and hit six shots
from 3-point range while holding the 49ers to just seven field goals on 23.3
percent shooting.
After halftime the 49ers continued to shoot poorly, connecting on just 31.3
percent from the floor. The Owls made good on 48.1 percent from the field and
led by as many as 22 points.
Shooting from distance was the difference in the game as Temple held a 30-3
edge in points from beyond the arc.
