Knee injury ends season of Colorado State QB Collin Hill

FORT COLLINS COLORADOAN - CSU quarterback Collin Hill suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season, coach Mike Bobo said Monday.

Hill underwent an MRI on Sunday that revealed the extent of the injury, Bobo said at his weekly news conference. The coach expects him to have surgery to repair the injury soon and hopes Hill recovers soon enough to participate in spring practices.

Because Hill has already played in five games this season, he is not eligible to apply for a medical redshirt, Bobo said.

Hill, a true freshman who won the starting job three games into the season, fell awkwardly while being tackled at the end of a 19-yard run late Saturday night in the Rams’ 31-24 win over Utah State at Hughes Stadium. He was taken immediately to the locker room for evaluation after being helped from the field late in the third quarter. He returned to the sidelines in the middle of the fourth quarter, wearing a sweat suit and limping slightly.
