Denver Broncos players finish outside the top 10 for NFL merchandise sales

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - For the last several years, a Denver Broncos player has stood at or near the top of the rankings of NFL athletes selling the most merchandise to fans.

That player, it probably goes without saying, was quarterback and five-time league MVP Peyton Manning. He topped the full-season stats for sales of NFL player-identified merchandise for the 2012-13 season and was No. 2 the next two years (behind Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, respectively).

Well, Manning has retired. And now, the Broncos can’t muster as much as a top 10 finish in the rankings of player-associated merchandise sales for the 2016-17 season as compiled by the NFL Players Association.

In the latest ranking, out today, linebacker Von Miller — the Super Bowl 50 MVP — comes in at No. 14.
