For your service: BMW Championship offers free tickets

KUSA - In a salute to military personnel, the 2014 BMW Championship is offering complimentary tickets to all all active duty and Reserve military members, military retirees and veterans of any branch of service.

The tournament takes place September 1-7 at Cherry Hills Country Club. Those who provide military identification, may obtain a complimentary ticket valid for any one day of the BMW Championship following advance verification of their military status.

"A strong military contingent is based in Colorado and we believe it's important to honor these men and women for their service to our nation," said Vince Pellegrino, Western Golf Association's senior vice president of tournaments. "We invite them to join us at Cherry Hills to enjoy the experience of watching a world-class golf event."

A total of 14,000 complimentary military tickets will be available during the 2014 BMW Championship:5,000 complimentary military tickets for each of the practice rounds on September 2-3 and 1,000 complimentary military tickets for each day of the tournament rounds on September 4-7. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the tickets may be ordered online at

Military guests will be asked to provide military identification and will be guided through a brief verification process on the website. Once this process has been completed,military ticket vouchers may be downloaded. The ticket vouchers must be presented at the ticket office along with a valid picture ID to gain access. Tickets are complimentary, but a $1 verification fee does apply.

All net proceeds from the BMW Championship benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which grants full college scholarships to deserving young caddies. Since BMW became title sponsor, the tournament has contributed more than $16 million to the Evans Scholars Foundation.
