LAKEWOOD -- The Alameda Pirates handed the Adams City Eagles a 3-1 loss on Wednesday evening after dropping the second set 25-20.
The Eagles, in their first game of the season, came out looking to find their rhythm. After dropping the first set in a close 25-16, Adams City took the second set 25-20.
The Pirates have already encountered their share of adversity losing to both Englewood and battling in a 3-2 loss to Sheridan.
Englewood was able to recover after losing the second set to take the third (25-23) and fourth (25-19) and the 3-1 win for their first of the season. Pirates' outside hitter, Mechelle Guzman had a great game with 10 kills to become the team leader.
Alameda will play Denver North Wednesday, September 7.
