Basketball: Poudre advances to 1st Final 4 in 36 years

Poudre beat Cherry Creek 47-38 in a 5A Great 8 game Thursday night at the Denver Coliseum.

The Impalas reach the Final 4 for the first time in 36 years. They were playing in their first Great 8 since 1995.

Sophomore Cecelia Berkner was 6-of-8 from the field for 15 points to lead all scorers in the game. Ashley McDaniel (10 points) was the only other Poudre player in double figures.

Cherry Creek got 12 points from Mikaela Eppard and 10 from Katie O'Brien but their 17 turnovers were too much to overcome.

Poudre will take on Regis Jesuit next week in Boulder.
