BROOMFIELD -- The Broomfield Eagle's leading scorer, Armando Ocampo netted two goals in the second half to defeat their rivals, the Legacy Lightning, in a second round playoff game for 5A soccer.
Neither team was able to score in the first half; however, both the Lighting and Eagles had shown signs of promise with strikes toward the net that were turned away.
In the second half, the Lightning would be merely inches from a goal, but instead hit the post before its cleared.
Soon after, Broomfield senior with 11 goals this season, Armando Ocampo, netted a beautiful cross from teammate Jeff Robisch less than five minutes in for the 1-0 lead.
Despite the an immense offensive pressure from the Lighting in the final minutes of the game they could not get a clear chance to get on the board.
Broomfield's Ocampo would strike once more after Eagle's goalkeeper, Jose Ogaz, would kick one all the way to the other end for Ocampo to guide in with 13.1 seconds left in the game.
The No. 5 seeded Broomfield shuts out their rival and advances to play No. 4 seeded Fairview in the quarterfinals Saturday.
