Denver South outlasts Cheyenne Mountain in overtime

Denver South beat Cheyenne Mountain 79-75 (OT) in a 4A boys Final Four game Friday night in Boulder.

The teams traded leads in the 2nd half and South senior Ibrahim Sylla had a tip-in chance at the buzzer to win it. However the shot rimmed out sending the game in to overtime.

Sylla seeming couldn't miss in the extra period. A scoring spree that included a thunderous alley-oop from Antonio Garcia. Sylla finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. South was led by Tyson Purifoy who scored 33 points and added 9 rebounds.

Ghassan Nehme poured in 28 points for the Indians and Christian Nehme added 21. It wasn't enough as Cheyenne Mountain's season comes to a close with a (21-6) record.

South (19-8) is one win away from their first state title in 44 years. The Rebels will play Pueblo East in the 4A title game Saturday in Boulder.
