BOULDER - The Fairview Knights pounded Boulder 50-9 on Friday night. The victory marked Fairview's ninth straight win over its cross-town rival.
It was evident both teams were trying to shake off the nerves in the beginning. Within the first three minutes of play, each team had an interception, and Fairview found the end zone on the third play of the game.
The Knights extended their lead to 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, when quarterback Jake Willemsen placed a perfect pass in the corner where Quinn Sharp brought it in for the score. He would find the end zone one more time before the half ended. Sam Lowry converted a field goal with just over a minute left to give Boulder its first points of the night.
Fairview blew the game wide open in the third quarter. Mariano Kemp plowed over the goal line to make it 28-3 with just over eight minutes remaining. The Knights proved to be relentless down the stretch, and eventually took this game, 50-9.
