Fast start helps Wheat Ridge beat Cheyenne Mountain

The defending 4A state champions got a big contribution from their captain.

John Roach scored 4 goals as Wheat Ridge beat Cheyenne Mountain in a 4A state tournament game Friday at Trailblazer stadium in Lakewood.

Roach scored the first three goals of the game early forcing the Indians to burn a timeout. It did get better from there for Cheyenne Mountain but the damage was done. The Farmers are advancing to the quarterfinals after a 10-5 victory.

Wheat Ridge will take on Aspen in the quarters. The Skiers beat Battle Mountain 8-7.
