HIGHLANDS RANCH-- A Lakewood kick return touchdown to tie the game in the first half looked like it would catapult the Tigers to an impressive road win over Highlands Ranch.
Instead, it seemed to have the opposite effect.
Rather than looking deflated after a huge momentum play that knotted the game at 14, the Falcons rallied together.
They proceeded to score 24 unanswered points to run away from Lakewood with a 38-14 victory to improve to 4-2 on the year.
Running Back Kobe Eller was running wild all game, scoring three touchdowns on the night, all in the first half.
Meanwhile, Rudy Maestas was the one bright spot for the Tigers, keeping his team in the ball game seemingly all by himself.
He had a nice touchdown run to make it 7-7 in the first quarter, and then blew past all eleven falcons on the previously mentioned kick return score to make it 14-14.
However, he wasn't the only player to make a huge special teams play on the night.
Leading by only two scores, Highlands Ranch Sophomore Dominic Bettini blew the game wide open with a kickoff return touchdown of his own on the very first play of the second half.
From there, the team's solid defense helped the Falcons coast to a comfortable victory.
