Kent Denver shuts out Liberty in first game of the season

Kent Denver vs Liberty hockey

DENVER -- Puck drop at University of Denver's Magness Arena, the Kent Denver Sundevils hosted the Liberty Lancers in their opening game for the 2016-17 season.

After coming off tough season last year finishing 4-13-2, the Sundevils started off their season with an explosion of offense.

Kent Denver junior, George Kandel, scored four goals in three periods to give the Sundevils a 4-0 lead against the Lancers. The Sundevil's Brian Wittmer and Colby Moore would also tally goals in the third period.

The Lancers spent little time in Kent's defensive zone, the Sundevil's controlling time of possession for most of the game.

Kent keeps Liberty from reaching the back of the net in a 6-0 shut out for their first game of the season. Next up, Sundevils face Valor Christian and their head coach, George Gwozdecky Thursday, Dec. 1.
