Mountain Vista girls' soccer beats Legacy to advance to 5A semis

Mountain Vista beats Legacy 4-1 to advance to the 5A semifinals.

The seniors on the Mountain Vista girls' soccer team will be going to graduation with a smile on their face.

The afternoon prior to the school's huge ceremony, the Golden Eagles beat Legacy 4-1 to advance to the 5A semifinals.

No. 3 seed Vista got out to an early 2-0 lead, and then kept the pressure on the rest of the day, even after a Legacy free-kick goal cut the lead in half momentarily.

Katie Harris found the back of the net to make it 1-0 at the start. Shortly thereafter, it was a freshman, McKenna Baillie, who had a big goal on the seniors' big day.

Gracie Armstrong had the lone goal for the Lightning on an excellent free kick from just outside the box.

That made it 2-1, but Mountain Vista was never truly threatened.

The Eagles tacked on two more the rest of the way, and were seemingly firing shots on net every couple of minutes.

Now, they'll sit back and wait to see which school they'll be playing in the semifinals May 20.
