Mountain Vista softball shuts out rival ThunderRidge 4-0

Mountain Vista shut out ThunderRidge 4-0 in softball.

HIGHLANDS RANCH-- Rivals Mountain Vista and ThunderRidge came into Wednesday's game tied at 2-2 a piece in the Continental league standings.

Golden Eagles Pitcher Paige McGuire made sure things didn't stay that way.

The Mountain Vista sophomore dominated, pitching a complete game shut out to lead her team to a 4-0 victory over the Grizzlies.

With McGuire's performance, all the Golden Eagles had to do was score a run.

Junior Rebecca Gonzales put three runs on the board all by herself.

She gave Mountain Vista its first run of the game with a double to score Mackenzie Jamison in the first inning.

Gonzales followed that up with another line drive in the third inning to bring home another run, and then scored herself on an error to make it 3-0 Golden Eagles.

Mountain Vista tacked on one more run for insurance when Annie Rourke knocked an RBI to score Kate Rourke.

Despite some solid pitching from ThunderRidge Pitcher Emily Morris, the Grizzlies simply couldn't put together any offense against McGuire.

The 4-0 victory improved Mountain Vista's record to 8-5 on the year.
