GREENWOOD VILLAGE-- Down just 7-0 to Grandview in the second quarter, the Legacy football team lined up for a 51-yard field goal with a chance to cut the deficit to 4 points.
After the ball was kicked, it was 14-0.
That's because back deep for the Wolves was Hayden Blubaugh, who caught the short field goal attempt and returned it all the way to the other end zone for a huge touchdown.
From there, the momentum stayed with Grandview, as the Wolves pulled away for a 37-7 win.
The long field goal return was one of three touchdowns on the night for Blubaugh, who also had two rushing scores to help widen the gap and send the Wolves to the 5A quarterfinals.
Quarterback Gunnar Lamphere made up the other two touchdowns, sneaking for one early score and then lofting a beautiful ball to Gunner Gentry for the other just before halftime.
The Lightning did have one big touchdown in the first half when Quarterback Alec Lewis connected with a wide open Landon Sneyd.
However, the Grandview defense shut down Legacy the rest of the night.
With the win, Grandview will now face Valor Christian in a huge heavyweight matchup in the 5A quarterfinals next week.
