The ThunderRidge Grizzlies built such a sizable lead that not even a furious comeback could prevent them from advancing to the quarterfinals of the girls' lacrosse state playoffs.
On Thursday night in the 2nd round of the postseason tournament, they knocked off Centaurus 10-6.
After back-and-forth scoring in the first few minutes, No. 7 seed ThunderRidge scored seven straight goals to make it 9-2 late in the second half.
With their season on the line, the Warriors put up an incredible fight, scoring four of the next five goals to make it a game with seven minutes to go.
But from there, ThunderRidge's defense held Centaurus scoreless, and was able to run out the clock and hold on for the four-goal victory.
Sara Stewart and Logan Derosia were fantastic for the Grizzlies, who will get set for a quarterfinal matchup against the winner of No. 2 Denver East and No. 15 Regis Jesuit.
