Saturday morning Prep Rally (10/29/16)

KUSA - The Saturday morning Prep Rally kicked off with the state field hockey results, and also included football, volleyball and boys' soccer state playoffs.

For the first time in four years, there is a new field hockey state champion. Four-peat defending champion Colorado Academy was knocked out of the state tournament in the semi-finals, which left the door open for Kent Denver and Palmer Ridge in the championship game.

In football, Chatfield and Dakota Ridge met for a league game with a lot riding on the line. Both of these programs were undefeated in league play, and this would result in a come-from-behind victory. We also watched Platte Valley and Weld Central duel it out in the 2A classification, still-undefeated Eaglecrest visit a gritty Ralston Valley, and Cherokee Trail and Mountain Vista take the field in Highlands Ranch.

In volleyball this week, it was a battle between 5A No. 3 ranked Denver East and defending 4A champs, Cheyenne Mountain. State soccer wrapped up the morning with a meeting between 21-seed Horizon who was looking to get the upset win over 12-seed Ralston Valley.

Watch the video to see the results and action from these games, and tune in to the Sunday morning Prep Rally for more, including results from the state cross-country meet.
