Sunday morning Prep Rally (9/11/16)

KUSA - The Sunday morning Prep Rally featured highlights from football, field hockey, volleyball, cross-country and soccer games across the state for the week of September 5.

Pomona, Mullen, Grandview and Regis made up our top four 5A teams in the rankings this past week, but that is bound to change after Regis and Mullen went head-to-head. In a mostly defensive battle, the Mustangs shut out the Raiders Friday night. Cherry Creek traveled to Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, and the Bear Creek and Lakewood game was decided on the final play of the game.

In field hockey this week, we saw a rematch of last year's state championship game between Colorado Academy and Cherry Creek. A win by the Mustangs would keep them undefeated through four straight seasons.

Defending 3A volleyball champ Eaton High School traveled to play Faith Christian this week. Tarynn Sieg was a standout player for the Reds, and helped them ultimately sweep their opponents.

In cross-country this week, Heritage hosted its annual Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational on Friday. There were 87 teams from four different states competing in the event. Silver Creek's Brock Dykema, Broomfield's Madison Mooney and Grandview's Brie Oakley were among some of the day's top finishers.

Finally, Jefferson and Lake County battled it out on the pitch. This game ended a minute early, after a fight broke out at the end of the game.
