GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres has been fined $2,500 by the NHL for a hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda.

The hit came at 18:22 of the second period in Colorado's 3-2 over the Coyotes on Thursday night.

Torres lowered his shoulder and appeared to hit Hejda on the side of the head.

Hejda lay on the ice for about a minute before being helped to the locker room.

Torres was not penalized on the play, and infuriated Avalanche coach Joe Sacco screamed at the officials.
