Cuddyer in lineup day after crash into wall

Michael Cuddyer will miss a grand total of four innings due to an elbow injury.

The Rockies right fielder is slated to hit second in the lineup Tuesday night in San Diego after leaving their game a day prior after he crashed into the wall.

Cuddyer slammed into the un-padded outfield fencing while going after a deep fly ball by Alexi Amarista in the fifth inning. He slumped down in obvious pain – holding his right elbow. The reigning National League batting champion was removed from the game as precaution and the injury was initially listed as simply a contusion.

"I think he banged his elbow pretty good on some cement or something at the base of the fence," manager Walt Weiss said following the Rockies 5-4 defeat by the Padres. "I think he'll be alright."

Cuddyer is batting .347 with 3 home runs and 10 runs batted in. He has only missed one game so far this season - and it was a scheduled rest day.
