Truex Jr.'s long winless streak ends at Sonoma

Sonoma, CA (Sports Network) - Martin Truex Jr. is finally in victory lane again in the Sprint Cup Series.

Truex ended a 218-race winless drought in NASCAR's premier series after leading 51 of 110 laps in Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. He crossed the finish line 8.3 seconds ahead of Jeff Gordon for his second career victory in the series. His first win came in June 2007 at Dover International Speedway.

Carl Edwards finished third, and Kurt Busch placed fourth. Clint Bowyer, who is Truex's teammate at Michael Waltrip Racing and last year's race winner at Sonoma, took the fifth spot.

After winning at Dover, Truex had finished in the runner-up spot six times before his victory at Sonoma.
