Nuggets' Lawson dealing with new set of injuries

KUSA - Because of a couple of new issues, Nuggets guard Ty Lawson will be a game-day decision Wednesday night when Denver plays the Detroit Pistons.

Coach Brian Shaw said Wednesday morning Lawson aggravated his groin toward the end of Monday's win against the Clippers, but the guard also is suffering from headaches.

"He left to go to the doctor to get (the headaches) checked out," Shaw said after Wednesday's morning shootaround. "We may be short two of our starters tonight."

Shaw said forward Wilson Chandler (hip) again will not play.

Lawson just returned after being out nearly a month because of a rib injury sustained Feb. 8 at Detroit. Denver was 1-8 without Lawson in that stretch.

"They've been working on the groin situation, but he came out to shootaround this afternoon and the lighting was bothering him," Shaw said, "so we sent him to the doctor."

Since his return, Lawson averaged 19.0 points an 10.0 assists and the Nuggets are 5-4 in the past night games. Shaw said Aaron Brooks will start at point guard if Lawson is unable to play.
