Nuggets to honor 1994 playoff team

KUSA - Coming up on the 20th anniversary of the Nuggets' upset win over Seattle in the 1994 playoffs, that Denver team will be honored March 17 during the Nuggets' game against the Clippers.

The organization announced Tuesday that many of the Nuggets players and coaches from that 1994 squad will be at the halftime ceremony.

As well, the current Nuggets will wear the uniform from that season against the Clippers.

The Nuggets were the eighth seed in 1994 and after losing the first two games to the Sonics, Denver won both games at McNichols Arena to send the best-of-five series back to Seattle. Denver won 98-94 in overtime.

"We are excited to celebrate one of the most iconic and inspiring teams in Nuggets history," Denver general manager Tim Connelly said in a news release. "The memories from that season and playoff run make up a major chapter in Nuggets history, and a story we are thrilled to share with our current fans and players."
