Berg propels Pioneers past Georgetown

When Denver University attack Wes Berg sets foot in his opponents zone, he draws the attention of two defenders. Against Georgetown on Saturday, no one on the Hoya's roster could stop the Pioneer sophomore from a career-high in points or assists.

The No. 6 ranked Pioneers beat the Hoyas 17-9 on Saturday, with Berg providing 6 goals and three assists. His 9 points on the day were a new career-high, while the 6 goals tied a previous career high set back in 2013.

"Credit goes to Wesley Berg for stepping up when we needed him to and for our entire team in filling in where we had some holes," coach Bill Tierney told "We had a lot going against us this week in traveling to the east coast where the weather was a little ugly, and playing with different offensive personnel than we normally do."

Arapahoe High School alum Jack Bobzien was also impressive in the win. The sophomore transfer tied a career-high in points (six points) with 4 goals and 2 assists.

Denver has now won five straight games, with two straight victories in the Big East Conference. The team will return to the road next weekend when they face Villanova on Saturday, April 5th.
