Just hours after the Denver University brought home the school's first NCHC Championship, the Pioneers learned they will play Boston College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The field of 16 teams was announced on Sunday morning, and will have the Pioneers traveling to Worcester, MA, for their first game of the tournament.
The Pioneers (20-15-6) gained entry to the postseason with an automatic bid as the NCHC Champions. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Denver has reached the NCAA Tournament, and the twenty-fifth time in school history. Boston College (26-7-4) comes into the tournament as the No.1 seed in the Northeast region, with Denver the No.4 seed. If Denver advances, they would face the winner of University of Massachusetts (Lowell)/Minnesota State for a chance to reach the Frozen Four in Philadelphia.
